Most spherical roller bearing is designed with two rows of rollers, allowing them to take very heavy radial loads and heavy axial loads. There are also designs with one row of rollers, suitable for lower radial loads and virtually no axial load.

Special surface treatment of spherical roller bearing increases resistance to wear. 3. Offer advanced material options: Super TF and TL steel, depending on application requirements. 4. Advanced Technology – patented Molded Oil lubrication system is also available. 5. Bearings are also available with an oil groove and holes in the outer ring for re-lubrication purposes. Spherical Roller Bearings are designed to work in applications where severe misalignment exists whether from mounting or shaft deflection and with relatively heavy radial loads and some axial loads in either direction. They are also extremely resistant to shock loads and their self-aligning feature allows full capacity loading despite shaft deflection. They are very similar in purpose to Self-Aligning Double Row Ball Bearings, except the Spherical Roller Bearings are designed to be more robust by carry heavier loads but at lower maximum speeds. These bearings have barrel-shaped rollers between the inner ring, which has two raceways, and the outer ring which has one spherical raceway.
